“ஸ்டாஃப் செலக்ஷன் கமிஷன்” (Staff Selection Commission) நடத்தும் “ஸ்டெனோகிராபர் கிரேடு ‘சி’ அண்ட் ‘டி’ தேர்வின்” (Stenographer Grade ‘C’ and ‘D’ Examination) முதல்நிலைத் தேர்வான கம்ப்யூட்டர் அடிப்படையிலான தேர்வில் (Computer Based Examination) “பொதுஅறிவு மற்றும் புத்திக்கூர்மை” (General Intelligence and Reasoning), “பொது விழிப்புணர்வு” (General Awareness) ஆகிய தலைப்புகளில் இடம்பெறும் கேள்விகள் மற்றும் அதற்கான விடைகள் ஆகியவற்றை இதுவரை விரிவாகப் பார்த்தோம். இந்தக் கம்ப்யூட்டர் அடிப்படையிலான தேர்வில் இடம்பெறும் இன்னொரு பிரிவான “ஆங்கில மொழி மற்றும் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் திறன்” (English Language and Comprehension) பற்றி இந்த இதழில் பார்ப்போம்.
“ஆங்கிலமொழியை அந்நிய மொழி” என கருதி படிக்கும் காலத்தில் அதிக கவனம் செலுத்தாதவர்கள் இருக்கிறார்கள். ஆனால், மத்திய அரசுப் பணிகளுக்காக நடத்தப்படும் போட்டித் தேர்வுகளில் “ஆங்கிலமொழி மற்றும் புரிந்துகொள்ளும் திறன் பற்றிய பகுதிகள் கண்டிப்பாக இடம்பெறுகின்றன. இந்தத் தேர்விலும், “ஆங்கிலம் பற்றிய அடிப்படைகளை போட்டியாளர் எந்த அளவுக்குத் தெரிந்து வைத்திருக்கிறார்?” என்பதை மதிப்பீடு செய்யும் வகையில் கேள்விகள் இடம்பெறுகின்றன. குறிப்பாக - ஆங்கில மொழியை ஒருவர் சரியாகப் புரிந்துகொண்டு எழுதும் திறன் பெற்றுள்ளாரா? என்பதையும் இத்தேர்வின்மூலம் கணிக்கிறார்கள். இந்தப் பிரிவில் (பிரிவு-III) மொத்தம் 100 கேள்விகள் கேட்கப்படும். ஒவ்வொரு கேள்விக்கும் 1 மதிப்பெண் வீதம் மொத்தம் 100 மதிப்பெண்கள் வழங்கப்படும்.

Mahatma Gandhi has repeatedly called himself a truthseeker and has learned, in the course of his search, that truth is a condition of being, not a quality outside of oneself or a moral acquisition, that it is of the very essence of the divine in man.
